Abstract
Purpose: In the case of spas c dysarthria patients, their posture because asymmetrical due 10 excessive muscle tension, and an unstable breathing pattem becomes visible for this reason. The purpose of this study measured and compared the
effects of trunk rea1ignment and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) on the maximum phonation time and intensity in phonation of spastic dysarthria pa ents.

Methods: Trunk realignment was based on Bobath treatment, using PNF for respira on exercises. Patients were manually ¥òeated considering inspiration and expiration. A laptop computer and a headset with a rnicrophone were used 10 measure the change of maximum phonation time in order to determent the irnprovement in phonation, and the sp ch ana1ysis program Praat (ver. 5329) was insta11ed into the computer for eva1uation to achieve a more ¡£ÀÌective date presentation. Each test subjects went through a total of 26 sessions which lasted 30 rninutes for 5 days a week, the sessions were divided into the prelirninary stage (3 sessions), the treatment stage (20 sessions), and the post treatmen1 stage (3 sessions). The collected data compared and ana1yzed the change of phona on intensity and maximum phona on time through visua1 graphs and average value of the desc ptive statistics.

Results: First, respira on exercise with trunk realignment and PNF was measured by Praat, a speech analysis program, and found out its effect on increasing the maximum phonation time in the patients with spastic dysarthria. Second, respiration exercise with trunk rea1ignment and PNF was measured by Praat, a sp ch analysis program, and found out its effect on increasing the phonation intensity in the patients with spas c dysarthria.

Conclusions: This study affected on the spastic dysarthria patients to make them experience the norma1 respiratory pattems and speaking in proper positions by treating them with Bobath ¥ðunk realignment d PNF for a positive outcome.
